I work with a girl who is a close-talker. She is a very nice girl who I mostly enjoy being around besides the fact that she stands unnecessarily close to my face when we're talking. It bothers me so much, in fact, that I now avoid talking to her altogether. It really makes me aware of how much I value my personal space and dislike when it is invaded. (Also, I hate the term "personal space"). I guess it isn't much different from the panic I feel upon waking to find that my partner is asleep facing me.

Throughout my life I have avoided situations where I would be required to sleep with another individual, and when forced to do so, I lay awake and still for countless hours, clutched to the edge of the bed, body aching from fear of rolling over and discovering the open mouth, warm breath that is sure to be waiting. I will never understand how others so easily slip off to sleep without a second thought of the person sleeping next to them. When you're asleep anything can happen; oozing, touching, drooling, murmering. And to think that some people actually prefer to sleep with others! I shudder.
